37:1وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّۭا﴿١﴾
"By those who range themselves in ranks,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:2فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا﴿٢﴾
"And so are strong in repelling [evil],"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:3فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا﴿٣﴾
"And thus proclaim the Message [of Allah]!"— Yusuf Ali translation

"Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:5رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ﴿٥﴾
"Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:6إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ﴿٦﴾
"We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty [in] the stars,-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:7وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ﴿٧﴾
"[For beauty] and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:8لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ﴿٨﴾
"[So] they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:9دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ﴿٩﴾
"Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:10إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ﴿١٠﴾
"Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:11فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ﴿١١﴾
"Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the [other] beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:12بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ﴿١٢﴾
"Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:13وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ﴿١٣﴾
"And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:14وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ﴿١٤﴾
"And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:15وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ﴿١٥﴾
"And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:16أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ﴿١٦﴾
""What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we [then] be raised up [again]"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:17أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ﴿١٧﴾
""And also our fathers of old?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:18قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ﴿١٨﴾
"Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated [on account of your evil].""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:19فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ﴿١٩﴾
"Then it will be a single [compelling] cry; and behold, they will begin to see!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:20وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ﴿٢٠﴾
"They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:21هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢١﴾
"[A voice will say,] "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye [once] denied!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:22۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ﴿٢٢﴾
""Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:23مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٢٣﴾
""Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the [Fierce] Fire!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:24وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ﴿٢٤﴾
""But stop them, for they must be asked:"— Yusuf Ali translation

""'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'""— Yusuf Ali translation

"Nay, but that day they shall submit [to Judgment];"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:27وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿٢٧﴾
"And they will turn to one another, and question one another."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:28قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ﴿٢٨﴾
"They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand [of power and authority]!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:29قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ﴿٢٩﴾
"They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:30وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَٰغِينَ﴿٣٠﴾
""Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:31فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ﴿٣١﴾
""So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed [have to] taste [the punishment of our sins]."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:32فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ﴿٣٢﴾
""We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray.""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:33فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ﴿٣٣﴾
"Truly, that Day, they will [all] share in the Penalty."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:34إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿٣٤﴾
"Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:35إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ﴿٣٥﴾
"For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:36وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ﴿٣٦﴾
"And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:37بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿٣٧﴾
"Nay! he has come with the [very] Truth, and he confirms [the Message of] the messengers [before him]."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:38إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ﴿٣٨﴾
"Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:39وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿٣٩﴾
"But it will be no more than the retribution of [the Evil] that ye have wrought;-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:40إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿٤٠﴾
"But the sincere [and devoted] Servants of Allah,-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:41أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ﴿٤١﴾
"For them is a Sustenance determined,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:42فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ﴿٤٢﴾
"Fruits [Delights]; and they [shall enjoy] honour and dignity,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:44عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ﴿٤٤﴾
"Facing each other on Thrones [of Dignity]:"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:45يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ﴿٤٥﴾
"Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:46بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ﴿٤٦﴾
"Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink [thereof],"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:47لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ﴿٤٧﴾
"Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:48وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ﴿٤٨﴾
"And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes [of wonder and beauty]."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:49كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ﴿٤٩﴾
"As if they were [delicate] eggs closely guarded."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:50فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿٥٠﴾
"Then they will turn to one another and question one another."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:51قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ﴿٥١﴾
"One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion [on the earth],"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:52يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ﴿٥٢﴾
""Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth [of the Message]?"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:53أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ﴿٥٣﴾

37:54قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ﴿٥٤﴾
"[A voice] said: "Would ye like to look down?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:55فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٥٥﴾
"He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:56قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ﴿٥٦﴾
"He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:57وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ﴿٥٧﴾

37:58أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ﴿٥٨﴾
""Is it [the case] that we shall not die,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:59إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ﴿٥٩﴾
""Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:60إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ﴿٦٠﴾
"Verily this is the supreme achievement!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:61لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ﴿٦١﴾
"For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:62أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ﴿٦٢﴾
"Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:63إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿٦٣﴾
"For We have truly made it [as] a trial for the wrong-doers."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:64إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٦٤﴾
"For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:65طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ﴿٦٥﴾
"The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:66فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ﴿٦٦﴾
"Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:67ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ﴿٦٧﴾
"Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:68ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٦٨﴾
"Then shall their return be to the [Blazing] Fire."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:69إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ﴿٦٩﴾
"Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:70فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ﴿٧٠﴾
"So they [too] were rushed down on their footsteps!"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:71وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٧١﴾
"And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:72وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ﴿٧٢﴾
"But We sent aforetime, among them, [messengers] to admonish them;-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:73فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿٧٣﴾
"Then see what was the end of those who were admonished [but heeded not],-"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:74إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿٧٤﴾
"Except the sincere [and devoted] Servants of Allah."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:75وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ﴿٧٥﴾
"[In the days of old], Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:76وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿٧٦﴾
"And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity,"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:77وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ﴿٧٧﴾
"And made his progeny to endure [on this earth];"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:78وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ﴿٧٨﴾
"And We left [this blessing] for him among generations to come in later times:"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:79سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿٧٩﴾
""Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:80إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿٨٠﴾
"Thus indeed do we reward those who do right."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:81إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿٨١﴾
"For he was one of our believing Servants."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:82ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ﴿٨٢﴾
"Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:83۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿٨٣﴾
"Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:84إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ﴿٨٤﴾
"Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:85إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ﴿٨٥﴾
"Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship?"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:86أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ﴿٨٦﴾
""Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire?"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:87فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿٨٧﴾
""Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:88فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ﴿٨٨﴾
"Then did he cast a glance at the Stars."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:89فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ﴿٨٩﴾
"And he said, "I am indeed sick [at heart]!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:90فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ﴿٩٠﴾
"So they turned away from him, and departed."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:91فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿٩١﴾
"Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat [of the offerings before you]?..."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:92مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ﴿٩٢﴾
""What is the matter with you that ye speak not [intelligently]?""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:93فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ﴿٩٣﴾
"Then did he turn upon them, striking [them] with the right hand."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:94فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ﴿٩٤﴾
"Then came [the worshippers] with hurried steps, and faced [him]."— Yusuf Ali translation

37:95قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ﴿٩٥﴾
"He said: "Worship ye that which ye have [yourselves] carved?"— Yusuf Ali translation

37:96وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ﴿٩٦﴾
""But Allah has created you and your handwork!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:97قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٩٧﴾
"They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!""— Yusuf Ali translation

37:98فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ﴿٩٨﴾
"[This failing], they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!"— Yusuf Ali translation

"Then, when [the son] reached [the age of] [serious] work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" [The son] said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!""— Yusuf Ali translation

"And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know [quite well] that they have indeed to appear [before his Judgment-Seat]!"— Yusuf Ali translation
